A perennial Kale that produces early greens. The plant can live for several years and its leaves have a tender texture and mild earthy flavour.

A typical portuguese Kale, very popular in many tradicional portuguese dishes, like the well known “caldo verde”. The plant is a biennial where winter frost occurs, and perennial in even colder regions. It is also moderately sensitive to salinity. It has an upright stalk and can grow up to 3 meters ( 9 feet) hight.

| Position | Full sun or light shade. |
| Soil | Well drained and fertile soil. Neutral Ph soil is best. |
| Planting | It has an upright stalk and can grow up to 3 meters ( 9 feet) hight. Can also grow in containers. |
| Harvesting period | Can start harvesting the bigger outer leaves when the plant has 6 to 8 big leaves. |
| Edible part of the plant | Can eat the leaves (cooked or raw). Cook as you would any other kale. |
