Description

This green leafy climber is very long-lived – one plant in Sweden is believed to be 50 years old! It can climb to 2m or 3m in a year so allow space for this. However it is quite slow-growing in the first year. Plant in a shady spot (they also prefer alkaline soil) and allow it to climb. It is pretty drought-resistant as its roots go deep. The heart-shaped leaves are like mild-tasting spinach and can be harvested in late winter/early spring.
